Can anyone explain why I got a letter from the Census Department telling me I was about to get a letter from the Census Department?
Your tax dollars at work.

My station talked to the local office and they say they've done studies that show people are more likely to fill out the form if they got the reminder letter. Another point: It costs 47 cents to mail a letter and $57 to send someone to your door.

Numbers they provided indicate a total $85 million dollar savings by sending people the letters, they get far better mail participation and have to send out fewer workers, fewer times.

I wonder how much that study cost?
